Мадонна - культовая певица американской поп-музыки, выпустила откровенно рок-альбом. И не сказать, что это стало для кого-то неожиданностью. Даже напротив. Если бы после песни Ray of Light появились бы сладкие припевки чувственной женщины, можно было бы удивляться. Сейчас можно восхищаться. Поскольку мы, современники певицы, имели возможность пронаблюдать огромнейший рост певицы и личности до нынешнего состояния суперпрофессионализма и суперстильности (именно стильности, а не просто привлекательности и эротичности, что было вначале). Резкая музыка, очень четкий текст, наговариваемый даже рэп - все это придает альбому некоторую графичность (если позволите сравнить его с живописью) Неудивительно, что и обложка диска выполнена в очень резкой графической манере. Присутствуют три цвета: черный, белый, красный. Смесь воинственности и нервности - вот музыка Мадонны на этом альбоме. Наверняка вы видели клип на песню Die Another Day. Выполнен он в тех же тонах, с невероятнейшей энергией. Женщина-воин во всем сиянии, амазонка. Кстати, многие называют эту песню "самой чувственной" в альбоме и вообще на сегодняшний день. Композиции сложны и по мелодике, и по словам, то есть по вложенной идее. Резкий рэп сменяется высоким чистым голосом. Одна манера исполнения заменяется другой. Неизменным остается только драйв.
